01 / BEGIN WITH THE SOURCE
A calm start is a secure start.
Trezor.io/start is the place to begin when your device is new or needs a fresh setup. This page is an independent orientation guide, not the Trezor website itself. Use the official address directly, rather than a link in an unexpected message or an advertisement, and follow the current instructions shown for your specific model.
Setup generally happens in Trezor Suite, the companion application for managing your device. Your hardware wallet keeps private keys protected on the device while Suite gives you an interface for viewing accounts and confirming actions. The device screen is an important part of that process: read it carefully before approving anything.
Trust the information displayed on your device—not a rushed instruction on a screen.
02 / THE FIRST FEW MINUTES
Set up in a considered order.
Before beginning, set aside a few uninterrupted minutes. Use a trusted computer, install software only from official Trezor sources, and keep the packaging and device close by. The exact prompts can change as software evolves, so treat the on-screen official guidance as the source of truth.
- 01
Check your starting point
Type trezor.io/start into your browser yourself. Confirm the spelling and secure connection before continuing.
- 02
Connect and follow prompts
Choose the instructions for your model. Install or open Trezor Suite only through the official route, then connect your device as directed.
- 03
Create and record your backup
Follow the device's prompts to create a wallet and write down its recovery backup exactly as instructed. Store it somewhere private and physically secure.
- 04
Verify before you act
Use the device screen to review addresses and transaction details. Take time to understand each confirmation before approving it.
03 / KEEP THE KEYS YOURS
Your recovery backup is not a password reset.
A recovery phrase or backup can restore access to a wallet, so anyone who sees it may be able to take control of the funds it protects. Keep it offline. Do not photograph it, store it in cloud notes, paste it into a website, or send it to someone claiming to be support. Trezor support will never need your recovery phrase.
Be skeptical of urgency. A stranger asking you to “validate,” “sync,” or reveal words from your backup is not a setup requirement. If something feels unexpected, stop and consult the official Trezor support center by navigating there yourself. Never approve a transaction you did not initiate or cannot explain.
Keep this rule simple: the recovery backup stays secret, offline, and in your control. No legitimate setup helper needs you to disclose it.
04 / BOOKMARK THE RIGHT PLACES
Go straight to official help.
When in doubt, pause and navigate to a trusted source yourself. These official pages can help you continue without relying on a forwarded link or a search result you have not checked.
